What brought you to Malaysia?
I came to East Malaysia first, to open the Four Points in Kuching, and then moved to KL to join Prince Hotel and Residences three and a half years ago.

What were your impressions of Malaysia before you came?
I wasn’t too sure what to expect in Kuching but immediately liked it. With KL, it was love at first sight, and the longer you live here, the more great places and interesting people you discover.

How easily did you adapt to living in a new country?
I would say very easily; it’s the reason I love working in hotels. I feel lucky to have such great opportunities to travel, live, and work in so many great places.

What are the three things you like most about living in Malaysia?
The weather; I love the heat. The food; there is so much variety and it is all very affordable. The location; it’s so easy to travel for weekend getaways.

What three things do you wish you could change about Malaysia?
I would keep it cleaner; there is too much acceptance of littering and dumping. I would change the jam; thankfully I don’t have to endure this on a daily basis. I would improve the selection of international concerts and shows in KL.

How long do you think you will stay?
It’s hard to say. I love it here, but it’s natural in the hotel business to move around, and there are so many places I would still like to live and work.

Do you frequent any restaurants offering food of your homeland?
Haha….NO. But maybe I have the occasional Guinness at Healy Macs.

Do you own property here?
I live in the hotel so it’s not a necessity now, but I am considering it for the future. Malaysia could be a good place to settle eventually.

What do you miss most about your home country?
I miss Clonakilty sausages and rashers.

What is your favourite Malaysian food?
Sarawak Laksa.

What one memory will you always treasure when/if you come to leave Malaysia?
I am constantly amazed at the beauty of the nature. The exotic wildlife and tropical fauna you encounter when playing on Malaysia’s golf courses is truly impressive.
