*UPDATE* 1, 600 Pandas World Tour is now in Malaysia

Malaysia will be invaded by 1600 pandas this Christmas eve!

Not just ordinary pandas, but 1600 papier mache pandas in various poses, emotions and sizes made using recycled paper. They will be exhibited at over 15 iconic landmarks in Malaysia.

The ‘1600 Pandas Tour in Malaysia’ will kick start on Sunday, December 21st at the Dataran Merdeka and will end in Publika, Solaris Dutamas on January 25th next year. Drive to Penang for a chance to have a face-to-face experience with the pandas on Christmas Eve!

On that day, you will see them “roaming around” Penang’s iconic landmarks including Lebuh Bintang, Bukit Bendera, Karpal Singh Drive and Komtar. Also, watch out for the flash mobs of the pandas’ probable ambush.

These sculptures have been exhibited more than a 100 times across the globe including the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan and Hong Kong. After more than five years since their debut in France, they are finally making their way to Malaysian soil.

Made by French Sculptor Paulo Grangeon in collaboration with WWF, these sculptures are symbolic representations of the amount of pandas left in the world. The tour is a part of the global effort to promote the need for panda conservation and sustainable development.

Funds raised from this tour and exhibition will be contributed to support WWF-Malaysia’s ongoing conservation efforts.
