Mid Valley Megamall to Open in Johor?

Will Mid Valley Megamall be opening a similar branch in Johor?

Yes, according to IGB Corp Bhd. The project costing RM6bil will not be as big as KL’s Megamall, in fact, it will be 30% smaller, and will be named Mid Valley Southkey Megamall. But, the mall will feature a similar design as the one in KL.

“While the new mall may be slightly smaller than the original Mid Valley Megamall, it will have many enhanced features,” said Group Managing Director of IGB Corp Bhd. Robert C.M. Tan. He added that a lot of improvements had been incorporated based on mistakes made in the construction of the first mall.

IGB Corp Bhd said that the RM6bil project is a joint venture with the Johor based Selia Pantai Sdn. Bhd., who had a 30% stake in the project.

According to reports, the project, which is in its first phase, is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.

“Once completed, the mall will be the largest shopping mall in Johor,” he said adding that the integrated development will include eight 30-storey tower blocks, four office blocks and one serviced apartment with 180 units.

Once completed, Mid Valley Southkey Megamall will have six levels with a total of 12,000 parking bays. IGB Corp Bhd. Also said that three hotels; Cititel Johor Bahru, Boulevard Hotel and The Gardens Hotel would be included in the project.
