Five Fun Activities in KL that Burn Calories

Losing weight and keeping fit is not an easy task especially when you have to motivate yourself to head to the gym. If it’s difficult to program your mind to work out, why not participate in some fun and vigorous activities to keep IN shape? After all, it’s all about losing the extra calories, and any vigorous activity can help you achieve that.

It’s important to remember that a good exercise plan will include a variety of activities. Jumping on the treadmill will eventually bore you. But a different activity everyday will help motivate you to keep in shape.

Here are five fun activities that will help you burn calories and keep in shape without you even realising.

 

Paint Ball in KL
This fun activity is a great exercise for you. Its fun, it gets you running, crouching, sweating and burning calories without you even realizing! Play for an hour straight and you can burn up to 420 calories. To get started, head on over to Xtion Paintball Park at the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil. An adult package start at RM30 per person, and includes a two hour time slot, safety briefing, 50 paintballs, goggles, paint gun, body vest and high pressure air tank. It can be a little painful when you get hit, but no pain no gain right?

Indoor Wall Climbing in KL
Wall climbing is a total body workout that will force you to engage all your muscles (hands, legs, shoulders, back, and abdomen). It’s challenging, builds strength, coordination and endurance, and is also an activity that burns the most calories as compared to running and cycling. According to research, you can burn anything between 600 and 800 calories with an hour of wall climbing. Willing to give it a try? Then head on over to Camp 5 and make use of their indoor climbing facility. Adults will have to pay RM28 and you can rent some of the gear for a small fee as well.  

Kickboxing in KL
This complete body workout will can have you burning up to 800 calories an hour, granted you are doing the full regime (warm up drills, shadow kicking, jumping rope and then bag work. It’s also a great way to relieve stress after a bad day at work. If you aren’t sure if kick boxing is the right work out for you, then go for a free trial lesson at TNT Kickboxing. One lesson is all you need to decide if you can keep up or not. The normal walk-in rate at TNT is RM40, while monthly charges range between RM120-RM220 depending on packages.  

Pole Dancing in KL
Majority of people will think of pole dancing as something that only takes place in a strip club, but this activity which is a combination of dance and gymnastics has become a popular activity these days. To pole dance, you will require strength, flexibility and endurance. All of which you will eventually pick up when you move up from a beginners class. Once you’ve mastered it, you will notice a significant difference in your upper body and core. An hour in pole dancing class will have you burn around 400 calories. Dare to give this fun activity a go? Then head on down to Bobbi’s Pole Studio and sign up for a four week class for RM280.

Dance like no one is watching and burn those stubborn calories! When at home, put on some funky music and get moving. It doesn’t matter if you have a routine because no one is watching (best opportunity to pretend you are starring in a music video). Go at it for an hour and you can easily burn up to 400 calories an hour.  You can also attend some dance classes around town if you want to learn something new, like tango, belly dancing and hip hop dancing. P/S: How much calories you burn will depend on your weight. The more you weigh, the more you burn and the less you weigh the less you burn. That’s because a heavy person will engage more energy and muscles.
