Lights, camera, paper…

Hosted by British Council Arts Malaysia  and Kakiseni, London’s Battersea Arts Centre and The Paper Cinema present ‘Odyssey’ – an interpretive theatre performance for the whole family based on Homer’s epic, The Odyssey.

Founded in 2004 by Nicholas Rawling, Imogen Charleston and Christopher Reed, The Paper Cinema  continues to tour around Britain and internationally, performing a unique blend of live animation and music. The performance is created by a group of multi-talented artists comprising illustrators, puppeteers and exceptional musicians. Audiences will see a classic story told through paper animations projected onto a big screen alongside the live music.

The Paper Cinema’s Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus -a king, leader, husband and father – who went missing after the Trojan War. His faithful wife Penelope waits patiently for his return, looking after his house and his kingdom, keeping suitors, monsters and invaders at bay. His ambitious son Telemachus goes in search for him, but at what peril. At its heart, this is a story about a family and their trust in one another, fight againsts all defying all odds.

The Paper Cinema received rave reviews for its interpretation of The Odyssey in the United Kingdom and abroad. You can now watch The Odyssey unfold in Kuala Lumpur live you’ve never seen before.
