A Fusion of Delicious Food at Fuzio Bar

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

As expats know, there is no shortage of choice for dining when you’re in the Changkat Bukit Bintang area. What some may not know, however, is that a handful of great options exist just off the main street, too. With a recent change in ownership and subsequent rebranding, the delightful Fuzio bar and restaurant is just around the corner from the buzz of Changkat activity, in a row of chic, themed restaurants. At Fuzio, the order of business is Italian with a bit of local fusion. .e Kelantanese chef puts his own touch on the unique dishes, and while some are clearly a blend of cuisines, there are a few which are presented in the unfettered glory of their Italian heritage. Among our favourites – and a starter that on its own makes the trip worthwhile – is the Fuzio antipasti platter. Served on a sizeable board and billed as being “for two” (this could easily satiate four diners), the stunningly presented platter elicited a chorus of oohs and ahhs from us. Cold cuts, various cheeses, mouthwatering beef carpaccio, olives, cantaloupe, bruschetta, breadsticks, and more were artfully presented on the board with a shower of fresh pomegranate seeds ringing the perimeter of the feast. Though the platter – and indeed the restaurant – is pork-free, this is one antipasti starter that did not remotely disappoint.

Rustic sandwiches, fresh soups and salads (the fresh Taleggio cheese salad was a hit), and an array of standout pasta dishes are on offer, and if you’re craving a satisfying entrée, Fuzio offers a terrific selection of fish, chicken, beef, lamb, and even rabbit dishes. What’s nice about this menu is that it doesn’t overwhelm with pretense or excessive choices. A half-dozen or so pastas, a handful of chicken dishes, three different seafood mains, and of course your choice of made-to-order pizzas… it’s all very manageable, and everything is expertly prepared and presented. .e seafood we sampled was fresh and tasty, the pasta was cooked to al dente perfection, and the Fuzio rabbit dish was tender, full of flavour, and beautifully accompanied with mixed veggies and potatoes.

A word must be said about the atmosphere of Fuzio. From the gracefully curving spiral staircase that ascends through the two floors of restaurant space to the rooftop terrace and bar to all of the rustic wood furnishings to the terra cotta tiles and funky accoutrements throughout, Fuzio’s décor is bursting with personality, and the charm and warmth here are due as much to the unique feel of the place as to the gracious service that’s at hand. .is is a place you’ll feel welcome – while we were eating, some regulars came in and it was clear from their banter with the staff they felt comfortably at home.

So make Fuzio a destination of its own, or weave it into a bigger night of dining and drinking in the Changkat area. (Fuzio has a great wine list and also serves up an outstanding homemade Limóncello if you’re keen.) Whatever your pleasure, you’ll have a great time here, and you’ll be in the house that serves one of the best antipasti platters in town.
