Establishment and Its Role in Society
Established in 1993, the Petronas Gallery is owned and funded by Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), the leading patron of Arts and Culture in Malaysia.
The Gallery was built to encourage appreciation and understanding of arts, and to highlight its role in society through direct engagement with original works of artists, both Malaysian and international.
The Petronas Gallery also organises exhibitions and public programmes.
A Walk Through the Gallery
If you were to visit the gallery right now, you will notice that the current focus is on local artists. There is a showcase of over 500 artworks, describing the social, economic, and cultural aspects of Malaysia. These are conveyed through cartoons which are infused with humour, satire, a lot of wit, and the uniqueness of being Malaysian.
Visiting the Petronas Gallery is definitely a great way to spend the afternoon. On your way out, stop by the Gallery shop next to the entrance and browse through the many splendid and unique catalogues, art books or art supplies, etc, to take home as a souvenir. You can also have your caricature drawn by a talented artist.
Contact Details and Admission
Petronas Gallery is located at the base of the PETRONAS Twin Towers, at the Ampang Mall, Level 3 of Suria KLCC. It is open every day, except Mondays, and you can pay a visit anytime between 10am and 8pm.
