KL-Singapore Rail Plan Progressing

The planned high-speed KL-Singapore railway is moving ahead. Negotiations between Malaysia and Singapore are ongoing and an agreement is expected by the third quarter of this year. The plan is to have a single checkpoint at the border in order to minimise delays. The locations for the seven stations in Malaysia have been identified, and the line will commence at what is currently the air force base in Sungai Besi. Additionally, Singapore has identified three possible sites where they could locate the final station. Once completed, the journey between the two cities is expected to take as little as 90 minutes. Construction is expected to start this year, although it is unlikely the original completion date of 2020 will be achieved.
