13 Photos of Indonesia’s Jogjakarta

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

As one of central Java’s enduring cities, replete with history, charm, and character, Yogyakarta (or “Jogja”) is a photographer’s paradise. From the resplendent ancient temples of Borobudur and Prambanan to the chaotic and colourful Jalan Malioboro in the heart of town, Jogja has no shortage of subjects to tempt the talented photographer.

Armed with his camera, Indonesian photographer Rusdi Sanad shares here a glimpse into the lives of those who call Jogja home. Traditional morning breakfasts, sprawling landscapes, a local barber… all gain a certain stature when viewed through his lens. Through his photographs, Rusdi showcases the many things that make Jogja special, those unremarkable day-to-day moments that together weave a remarkable tapestry of life in this charming central Javanese city.
